Tim Tillbrook has provided new tape measures to be used on the D&P and NTP holes for measuring the distance from the edge of the hole to the front of the golf ball which is then written on the pin marker attached to the tape measure.

05/04/2024 - Mt Broughton Golf Course - SINGLES MATCHPLAY - FINAL ROUND - Ambrose - 9:00am
SINGLES MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION
Frank Fuller defeated Ian Tillbrook 3&2
26 players arrived to a cool (10 degree) morning with strong winds from the south and clear sky
The proshop dropped a bombshell when they informed the Secretary & Treasurer that a recent sale of the golf club to a new owner resulting in a new management team and an increase in green fees from $57 per player that we paid in March 24 to $89 per player today. The Treasurer charged players $50 in competition fees and this green fee charged by Mt Broughton would have resulted in MGC being required to subsidize $1014 to today's competition plus the cost of prizes. Those players who were present agreed to pay an additional $20 per player in an effort to reduce the subsidy down from $1014 to $494 which was considered to be a much more reasonable amount. A BIG THANK YOU to all players for their unselfish response.

1. Buso Tour is being booked for 2nd week in August. Please respond to the email invitation sent out by Scott Whyte who is organising the trip again this year. It is always a great trip with a mixture or good golf course, a day at the Gold Coast Races and great accommodation in Mermaid Waters close to the Casino and good restaurants and watering holes.
2. The Minutes of the recent AGM have been uploaded to the website by Scott Whyte prior to heading off to Singapore on a Pacific Cruise.
Adrian Adelerhof has undergone a double knee replacement and although he will not be back playing golf until June 2025 he is planning to join us at The Ridge next week for the after-game presentation.
Green Fees will increase to $60 commencing next week (12 April). The increase is required to offset increasing green fees charged by the golf clubs and address the losses experienced by MGC over recent years. This increase should restore the club to a more profitable footing and avoid the need for further increases in the near future. This increase was approved by the members who attended the AGM.

22/03/2025 - Boomerang Golf Course - SINGLES MATCHPLAY - SEMI-FINAL ROUND - Individual Stableford - 7:00am (later start due to fog)
35 players teed off on a cool overcast morning (16 degrees) with fog that stopped us from seeing the green from the tee on the first hole. The fog did however clear after the eighth group reached the 4th fairway.
Bunkers were OUT OF PLAY.
The fairways had a good covering of grass albeit a little long. The grass in the rough was well mowed in most places but there were also parts of the course that were a bit soggy under foot that stopped them from being mowed. Carts should not have been allowed on the course as they did a fair bit of damage.
The 8th hole was out of play so we only played 17 holes instead of the normal 18.
The grass on the greens was long and needed a good mow. The greens were spotted with dead grass in places making putting challenging as the ball bounced all over the place. Players had to hit their putts very firmly as the long grass slowed the ball making putting pretty much hit and miss.
The Guzzlers Cup was won by Brett Saunders

18/01/2025 - Calderwood Valley Golf Course - Ray Fenton Memorial - Individual Stableford - 7:00am
25 players embarked on the long journey to Calderwood Valley from Sydney where wind and rain were quite ferocious during the night and early morning when they left home.
When we arrived at Calderwood Golf Course the skies were over cast but rain and wind had abated allowing us to tee off with an expectation that we might have a good conditions for our game of golf
However after 4 or 5 holes it did start to rain and we had to use our umbrellas and rain gear. The conditions changed several times during the game and we even had blues skies and warm sunshine at one point during the morning.
The fairways had a very good grass cover and they had been well mowed producing a reasonable amount of 'run' and the rough was a bit long but in good condition.
The greens were in good condition albeit a bit damp making putts challenging as they were short of the pin.
Bunkers were out of play and players were allowed 6 inch preferred lie through the green.
The Guzzlers Cup was won by Tony Bedingfield
