It was 2 degreesC when we arrived at teh course and it was 6 degreesC by the time we finished the first 9 holes but by the time we finished the day had warmed up to a magnificent 13 degreesC. Good day for golf?

On a perfect day for golf we saw a game that was hotly contested between the players for the Engadine Hackers Club and the players for the Miranda Golf Club.

Miranda won this year 8 games to 5 with 2 games halved in a competition that was a team matchplay event where the Stableford scores of both players in each pair were added together to determine the winning pair for each hole.

30 players teed off under weather conditions that threatened rain early but cleared to sunshine by mid-morning. The course was wet underfoot and players had to negotiate many pools of water as they made their way around the course.

16 May 2015 - The Ridge Golf Course - Stableford - Matchplay Championships Final - 6:42

The Matchplay Championship was decided by a play-off between Mat Whibley and Tim Tillbrook wit  Tim  Winning 2 Up. The game was played in high spirits and with good sportsmanship exhibited by both of these young players.

36 players teed off under a blanket of cloud that threatened all day. It didn't rain but we thought that it might and that may have affected some players but not Steve Messervey (Swerv) who had recently returned form a European holiday that obviously helped his golf.  Swerv was today';s Guzzlers Cup winner.

Players welcomed a visitor, Adam Buchanan.

Peter Bull won Horse Lotto after scoring an 'S' in last week's draw and was rewarded when 8 horses whose names started with 'S' won their races in Sydney last week. What a fluke!

It rained very heavily once again during the week and most of the course was under water on Wednesday necessitating the course being closed.

26 players teed off amid threatening rain but by the end of the first hole the first group played 18 holes without being uninterrupted by rain. The day was predominantly free of rain and some players in the latter groups got a bit wet on the last 2 holes and even got a bit sun burnt.

The Guzzlers Cup was won by Chris Lee who also won the Guzzlers Guzzler by bettering the scores of the other weekly winners over the past 6 months.

Matchplay was deferred to the following week due to the 100 Year Anniversary of Anzac Day and the associated celebrations in which some of our members will participate.

21 players teed off on a warm sunny morning on a course that was wet underfoot (especially the back nine holes) which was understandable in light of the recent deluge resulting from the storms that have hammered Sydney over the past week.

The Guzzlers Cup winner was Graham Clarke. Graham Clarke also won the 6 monthly competition known as the Guzzler's Guzzler for which he will receive a trophy at the presentation held at the end of the year. Graham was a clear winner with 155 points ahead of Tim Tillbrook and Chris Lee who tied for 2nd place with 124 points.

25 players teed off of a cool dry day with very little wind. The fairways were in good condition but the greens had just been cored and sanded and the putting surface was a bit too furry and bumpy for our liking especially when the morning dew caused the ball to pick up the sandy and other small debris as it rolled towards the hole.

Members received the sad news during the week of the passing of:

• Betty Fenton - wife of one of the inaugural members of the Miranda RSL Golf Club and a staunch supporter of the club and its members; and 
• Keith Petitt - member of the golf club and an active golfer with the club for many years until he experienced health issues about 5 years ago.

Members of the Miranda Golf club extend their condolences to the families and friends of Betty & Keith. They will be in our thoughts and prayers during this sad time.
