After a start to the day, which was hampered by light rain, the day turned warm and sunny for the most part.
The fairways are still a bit patchy yet course management has optimized the use of GUR to help the course to recover. the greens were in excellent condition and challenging.
The Guzzlers Cup was won by Matt Saunders (35) who appeared to enjoy the company of those with whom he played.

27 January 2018 - Calderwood Valley Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 7:00am
The course was in
excellent condition and fairways well-manicured and greens slick.
The Guzzlers
Cup was won by Graham Jones.
The Ray
Fenton Memorial Shield is contended well at this time of year and was
won this year by Graham Jones who has only won it once before. This Shield is
offered in commemoration of all of our members who have passed on but as Ray
Fenton was a member of the original members of the Miranda Golf Club and as he
performed several roles within the Miranda Golf Club for in excess of 20 years
he is considered to be a founding member of the club and a significant
contributor to its longevity.

30 players teed off on a sunny morning with clear skies and no wind. Luckily the bulk of the heat and humidity arrived after we finished our game.
Just to show that some of our members are in serious need of psychological help, Jono Muhs and Tim Tillbrook played a second game teeing off at 11:45 with Wade Graham of Cronulla NRL Football Club fame (Go The Sharkies) and one other.

22 players teed off on a morning that consisted of very warm temperatures but luckily also included a cool breeze that didn't affect the golf but did stave off the heat.
The Guzzlers Cup was won by Ryan Holt with back-to-back wins which should see a reduction in his handicap to avoid a 3rd straight win next week but when you are in a purple patch anything is possible, I suppose.

18 players teed off on a warm morning that was very
hot and humid. After only a few holes many players (like Mark Santer) looked
like they taken a shower with all of their clothes on.
We
really felt sorry for those Kareela members who teed off in the mid to
late morning. They would have really suffered.
Some of the greens were recovering from a fungus/virus that they caught at around the same time as they cored the greens in September. The fairways were not in the best of conditions especially on the back 9.

18 November 2017 - Kareela Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 5:27am
19 players teed off on a morning that was preceded by heavy rain elsewhere in Sydney and the South Coast but it was not until half way through that back nine that we were affected and that was only for 2 holes.
The course was in very good condition and the golf was average.
The Guzzlers Cup was won by Tim Tillbrook for only the second time this year for him.

38 players teed off on a great day for golf. The rain that fallen in the preceding 18 hours had not resulted in much pooling or water on the course and we didn't even get our feet wet other than those who found the occasional hazard.
At one stage had the names of 43 players down for the days even but we had a few pullouts and a 'No Show' which was disappointed as he had to pay for the lunch as it was a catered event. The committee will have to think about how we manage this next year - perhaps taking a deposit to cover our expenses may be the way to go.
The Guzzlers Cup was won by Steve Buchanan - the 'gun' from Kogarah - who apparently played well but would not concede that point after the game. He may be worried about The Handicapper catching up with him.
