27 players teed off on a mild morning that was forecast to get warmer as the day progressed which was the case. A nice breeze made it a pleasant day for golf.
The greens were in goof condition but the recent rain together with the use of motorised carts had caused damage to the fairways in the low lying parts of the course.
The dams were full and the creeks were running freely creating a background of pleasant sounds to the expletives from the golfers who had managed to find the rough. The grass in the rough was 150-200mm deep making it difficult for players to make good contract with the ball when playing a shot.
This was obviously because the grass was still very wet on the edges of the fairways and the green staff had erred on the side of caution when mowing the course.
