24 players teed off on a cool morning with clear skies and a slight breeze. The weather forecast was for the temperature to reach 28 degrees and the forecast was 100% correct. 

The fairways were generally in good condition with a thick covering of grass and the patchy areas that we have seen in previous games were filled with new grass.

The course surrounds were well manicured and work has been done to improve the aesthetics of the course. Much of the timber from fallen trees that have accumulated around the course has been cut up and used as borders around the course and the smaller branches and leaves removed. The course is much tidier.

The Greens had a good thick cover of grass in preparation for the Woolooware GC Club Championships later in the month when the greens will undoubtedly be more closely mowed. The length of the grass on the greens made Putting more challenging.

The Guzzlers Cup was won by Tony Bedingfield

The Miranda Hotel has agreed to support the Miranda Golf Club through a sponsorship that give the winner and runner-up some money to spend at the hotel while enjoying a drink and/or a meal with family and friends.

12/09/2026 - Calderwood Valley Golf Course - MGC Vs Collingwood Hotel Challenge - 6:00am

24 players from Miranda Golf Club (MGC) and 24 players from the Collingwood Hotel (CH) teed off on a cool morning with  clear skies and a forecast of 21 degrees later in the morning..

Many thanks to Rob Guidi (MGC) and Paul Minuti (CH) for organising the days event.

The Shot-Gun Start began promptly at 6am. Tee-off was from the Blue tees.

The inaugural Challenge between MGC and the CH was won by CH 7-5 over MGC in 2026.

The fairways had a very good grass cover.

There was a 150mm preferred lie on fairways.

The greens were in good condition but still had dew on them making putting challenging.

Bunkers were in play and contained a good amount of sand.

The games were played in good spirits and many of the games were very close with CH winning by only 1 shot.

The players from MGC are looking forward to next years challenge where we hope to be more successful and take home the trophy.

The Guzzlers Cup was not awarded as the competition was Ambrose
