We were supposed to play Gerringong golf course but with 40-80Km winds forecast and course management not permitting motorised golf carts on the course Mick Connor secured a booking at Calderwood. Rain had inundated the Gerringong course in the past 2 weeks making it very wet underfoot and fearing damage to the fairways carts were not permitted.
16 players teed off on a cool clear morning with strong winds making some holes very challenging.
The fairways had a very good grass cover and they had been well mowed producing a reasonable amount of 'run' although there were some areas in which balls were lost. The rough was a bit long but in good condition. 6 inch preferred lie on fairways.
The greens were in good condition helping good putters to sink their putts.
Some bunkers had water lying in them and were GUR while other bunkers were in play but the sand was compacted by recent rain making it like hitting a ball off clay.
