 26 players teed off on a cool dry morning with overcast skies and a forecast of fine weather until at least lunchtime.

The grass cover in the 'rough' off the fairways was a very thick and wet from overnight rain BUT the local rule was "PREFERRED LIE THROUGH THE GREEN" which made it easier to strike the green from the rough for some. 

There was a 300mm preferred lie on fairways which was useful on some fairways where water from overnight rain had pooled.

Bunkers were OUT OF PLAY.

The greens had a good grass cover making putting reasonable.
