17/6/2023 - Calderwood Valley Golf Course - Hacker's Challenge - Individual Stableford - 6:30am

The Hackers Challenge is a hotly contested competition between the Miranda Social Golf Club and the Engadine Hackers that has been in our playing calendar for more than 20 years. Miranda defeated The Hackers 5 to 1.

Match Report From our Captain, Rob Guidi:

Sunday 05 March - Worrigee Golf Club - 2 Ball Ambrose.

16 players left Batemans Bay for the 2 hour trip to Worrigee for our last game, we were met with very warm conditions of 30 degrees.....felt like 35 !!

We hadn't played this course for many years and it was still challenging not only for the heat but we were following the members medal day comp which slowed our round up which took 5 hours....all enjoyed a refreshing drink in the club before taking the 2 hour drive home ...Rocket Rod Dixon was supposed to play but had a dose of gastro so he decided to sit this game out.

All in all the weekend was appreciated and enjoyed by all.

Our President, Gary Barnes, thanked the organizing team for their efforts.

Match Report From our Captain, Rob Guidi:

Saturday March 04 - Catalina Country Club - Stableford MGC Club game

26 players (some still a little under the weather..) turned up for an early 0700 tee off. It had rained overnight with light drizzle in the morning plus more constant drizzle turning to showers later on the front 9 was annoying but later sun emerged making it quite warm playing conditions on back 9 holes.

Course was excellent with most players enjoying the challenges of hole 10-27 which is what we were allocated. Highlight of the day without any doubt was Mick Connors hole in one on the Par 3 - 140m - 14th hole....(which was also the eagles nest with a 5 week jackpot) plenty of shouting followed by hugs and handshakes....well done Mick....and of course the traditional  buying of the beers !!!

All enjoyed a hearty lunch at the country club....8 others decided to play another 18 holes...they probably needed the practice so good for them.

Match Report From our Captain, Rob Guidi:

Friday March 03 - Moruya Golf Club - Yellow ball team event

26 players left Sydney headed for south coast on Friday around 0530-0600...its a great drive of around 3 & half hrs but rain on the way left a few pondering.....but arriving at Moruya it was overcast and bit of drizzle which came and went.

Greens and fairways were in great condition with the occasional rain which did not hamper our game. All in all a great course and all players enjoyed its challenges....unfortunately Steve Slack was unable to play due to an injury so he caddied/chauffeured for his brother Chris.

All adjourned to the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club for some refreshing ales and a hearty dinner....with some choosing to go to the local Chinese.

All accommodation for players was at the Mariners Waterfront Hotel.

The fairways had a very good grass cover and they had been well mowed and even the rough was in good condition with a reasonable amount of 'run'.

The greens were also in excellent condition resulting in a good test for our putting.
