The Final of the Pairs Matchplay was postponed to a later date as Fred El-Daher had gone to Rosnay by mistake and by the time he got to Boomerang he was not in a fit state to play a competition round. At least that is what Tony Bedingfield and Rodney Dixon thought and they did not want to win on a forfeit. Good sportsmanship on the part of Rod and Tony. Well done!

29 April 2023 - Boomerang Golf Course - 2-Ball Ambrose - 7:00am

26 die-hard players tossed the dice and braved the conditions that threatened to drench us during the round. It wasn't too bad. Yes, we got wet but there was no wind to speak of and the rain was limited to a heavy drizzle while were on the course.

Parts of the course were very spongy and a few golf balls plugged never to be seen again. Our golf shoes were very wet at the end of 18 holes as were our socks.

The greens had been sanded making putting challenging.

Notices:

Those present extended their condolences to Denis Daniels and his family on the passing during week of his brother, Garry. Garry had been a member of the Miranda Social Golf Club for over 40 years serving on the Committee in various positions over those years. He was a much liked and respected member of the golf club and will be sadly missed. Those present 'raised their glasses' in memory of Garry.

Jeff Saunders had an accident on Friday injuring his leg which meant that he could not play today. He much preferred to stay at home to be pampered by his wife, Susan. Good well soon, Jeff. We missed you today.

8 April 2023 - The Ridge Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 6:10am

The Singles Matchplay Final was not played today due to Gary Barnes undergoing surgery during the week that will stop him playing golf for up to 6 weeks and Mick Connor, being the true gentleman that he is, has decided to defer the game to when Barnesy can once again compete in this prestigious event.

32 players teed off on a morning that had clear sky when we arrived but overcast and drizzly conditions set in by the time our 5th group teed off on the 1st Hole. These conditions improved to deliver clear sky and warmish conditions over the next 5 holes and by the time our last group reached the 18th hole the day was warm and a bit muggy.

30cm preferred lie on the fairways and bunkers were OUT OF PLAY due to the heavy rain that hit the course overnight..

The greens were in very good condition and putting was good.

The fairways were in good condition with plenty of run.

The Guzzlers Cup winner was Peter Jaeger

1st Place:                                            Peter Jaeger (37)

2nd Place:                                           Mick Connor (36)
