3 September 2016 - The Ridge Golf Course - 1st Round Club Championships - Individual Stableford - 6:05am

The thought of early rain and wind threatened us when we arrived but there was no rain although it was cool and windy.  The course was a bit wet underfoot in party and the greens were still a bit furry after recent coring of the greens.

30 players teed off but only 29 finished.. Unfortunately Jeff Saunders aggravated his back on the second shot on the first hole and he was forced to 'retire injured'.

The Guzzlers Cup winner was Graham Clarke.

25 players teed off on a mild morning that was fine contrary to some weather reports from earlier in the week. It turned into a warm sunny day which was great for our golf although the clouds and light showers threatened later in the day.

Alan Griffiths won the Guzzlers Cup with an exemplary display of good golf that demonstrated to all what Alan is capable of but rarely displays.

21 players teed off on a cool but dry morning that turned into a beautiful Spring day. The greens were in very good condition and that majority of the fairways were also well kept despite the recent rain that made it a bit wet underfoot in parts.

A very cold and windy morning greeted all as we arrived and got out of the cars  ....still a sunny day eventually and all 16 players enjoyed the day...

Due to the short numbers we played a single stableford / 2 man multiplier event.

*        Single stableford winner - Steve Buchanan with 38 points (on a count-back from Frank Fuller)

*        2 man team winners = S.Buchanan & F.Fuller with 72 points

*        Pink Ball - I. Tillbrook - 28 points.

Congratulations to Steve Buchanan...not only for the individual & team win...but also on his birthday !!!

20 of our members traveled to The Gold Coast to play in the Buso Tour held in memory of Mark Buso who passed away in 2007 at the age of 41 from a heart attack induced by an asthma attack.

The travelers played Palm Meadows on Friday 12th August and Tweed Heads (River Course) on Sunday 14th August.

The Buso Tour was well endorsed again in 2016 as being a great trip full of fun and merriment.

22 players teed off on a cool but dry morning with a moderate breeze from the south. The course was very wet underfoot and motorized carts were not allowed out onto the course to protect the fairways and tee surrounds.

Best wishes to the almost 20 of our members who will be travelling to The Gold Coast next weekend for the Buso Tour in memory of a deceased member of the Miranda Golf Club, Mark Buso, who passed away on Tuesday 2 January 2007 at the age of 41.
