5 February 2022 - Gerringong Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 9:00am

The south coast of NSW had been hit with heavy rain and high winds over the preceding 24-48 hours.

When we arrived for golf the course appeared dry but the clouds were dark and the wind was howling!

25 players teed off. There were many places where the carts either struggled or did a bit of damage so we tried to drive mostly on the rough and avoided the fairways to minimise the damage to the course.

Most players found the conditions very hard and scoring was much lower than normal.

The fairways were mainly lush and green with the greens were well covered with no blemishes or uneven grass to speak of.

The Guzzlers Cup was won by Mick Connor

29 January 2022 - Woolooware Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 6:03am

30 players teed off on a clear dry morning. At 6am it was already 23 degrees and players were glad that they were not hitting off later in the day when the humidity threatened to be very high which it was by the time that we finished the game.

The greens and fairways were in excellent condition. The greens were moist with a lush grass cover making them a bit slower than normal for putting. The fairways had good green grass cover which was a benefit from the heat and rain that the course experienced in recent weeks.

There was no pooled areas on any part of the course nor was there any evidence of the stagnant pools that were present when we last played Woolooware 2 weeks ago.

22 January 2022 - Calderwood Valley Golf Course - Yellow Ball Team Event & Individual Stableford - Ray Fenton Memorial - 7:00am

27 players teed off on a mild morning that was forecast to get warmer as the day progressed which was the case. A nice breeze made it a pleasant day for golf.

The greens were in goof condition but the recent rain together with the use of motorised carts had caused damage to the fairways in the low lying parts of the course.

The dams were full and the creeks were running freely creating a background of pleasant sounds to the expletives from the golfers who had managed to find the rough. The grass in the rough was 150-200mm deep making it difficult for players to make good contract with the ball when playing a shot.

This was obviously because the grass was still very wet on the edges of the fairways and the green staff had erred on the side of caution when mowing the course.

The Guzzlers Cup

Won by Ben Copp with 41 points.

The Yellow Ball Teams Event
