Bully won the Guzzlers Cup 4 weeks ago at Calderwood. He was awarded the Pink Ball 3 weeks ago at Woolooware. He was in the bottom half of the field 2 weeks ago at Gerringong. He was awarded the Pink Ball last week at Woolooware. Does that mean that he will get the Pink Ball at Calderwood next week? We will have to wait and see.

11 February - Woolooware Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 6:10am

25 players teed off on a warm and sunny morning with clear sky. The fairways were mainly dry with a thick covering of grass despite the torrential rain that hit Cronulla on Thursday. The Greens were in very good condition with a thick mat that made putting difficult as only a strong putt would get to the hole. There was still evidence of flooding from the blocked drains on and around the 5th fairway but in the main the course was in very good condition.

The sun came out mid-morning warming things up a lot. It was also very humid. We did not envy the members teeing off after 11am.

This was the second round of the Eclectic Competition that will be held at Woolooware between now and the end of December 2023. Scott Whyte will upload the details of the Eclectic Scoring each week to the web after the game.

The scores from each game at Woolooware for each player will be uploaded to the web site. For each subsequent game at Woolooware if a player betters his previous score for each of the 18 holes that new best score will replace the previous one for that hole. After the 8 games the player with the best score card will win the Eclectic Competition.

Most players found the conditions very hard and scoring was much lower than normal.

The fairways were mainly lush and green with the greens firm and dry. There were still some wet patches in the dips in some of the fairways.

21 players enjoyed a beautiful day for golf at the picturesque Calderwood Valley golf course with no rain, little wind and sunny skies. Temperature was in the low 20 degrees

The fairways had a very good grass cover and they had been well mowed and even the rough was in good condition with a reasonable amount of 'run' considering the damp conditions that existed in the Illawarra Region of NSW over night.

The greens were also in excellent condition resulting in a good test for our putting.

Ray Fenton Memorial: Today is the day appointed in the golfing calendar to recognise the significant contribution made by Ray Fenton to the MGC. Ray was a founding member of the Miranda Golf Club in 1955 and served in most positions of the committee over the more than 30 years during which he played golf in the MGC. The Ray Fenton Memorial Shield is presented to the person with the highest stableford point score on the day. Therefore it is presented to Peter Bull for his 8 over par win today. Peter will have his name inscribed on teh trophy and he will retain it for 12 months.

31 players teed off on an overcast morning with dark rain-clouds overhead threatening to spoil the game ahead. It did rain during the round requiring umbrellas several times but not enough to cause players to walk off or not enjoy the course.

In Memoriam:

A player in the 3rd group after our Social Golf Club passed away on the 2nd hole. 2 ambulances navigated the course to get to him but were unable to save his life. 

We extend our sincere condolences to his friends and family.

May he rest in peace.

7/1/2023 - Boomerang Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 7:00am

17 diehard players braved the conditions while several turned up but did not want to get their nickers wet so they went home to be with their wives - very commendable.

Considering the amount of rain that the course received yesterday and overnight the course was in very good condition.

When we arrived it was raining but by the time the 4th group teed off it was only a light drizzle. It turned into fog by the time the 4th group made it to the 3rd tee. As you know if there is fog there is no rain. The fog remained for another 3 holes after which the wind arrived and blew the fog away. By the 10th hole the wind also abated and, although there was no sun, the conditions were excellent for golf.

 Only 9 starters turned up to experience a beautiful warm sunny day that was perfect for golf.

The greens were in perfect condition with a tick cover of grass that was good to putt on.

The fairways also had a thick cover of grass with only a few spots that were still recovering from recent heavy rains in Sydney. There were no puddles or muddy patches on the course.

Brilliant day for golf.

Due to the low numbers there were no major prizes.

29 October 2022 - Mittagong Golf Course - ANNUAL DAY - Individual Stableford - 6:00am

 Heavy rain during the week caused the management of Mt Broughton to close the course on Wednesday and Thursday which also resulted in a decision to not allow carts on the course today (Saturday 29/10/22). This would mean that our players would need to walk a very wet course and pull their clubs on a hand buggy which would be tiring for those who were already tired from the previous day's golf and a night of eating and drinking.

This forced our Secretary, Mick Connor, to seek an alternate venue. Mick was able to secure the Mittagong Golf Course but we could only have motorised carts if we teed off at 6am which our players agreed to do.

26 players teed off on a cool dry morning. The first few holes were very wet underfoot and the motorised carts churned up the golf course and we were surprised that they were allowed out as they appeared to create s lot of dame to the wet fairways.

The sun came out and we started to warm up after about 7am.

22 October 2022 - Woolooware Golf Course - Individual Stableford - 5:55am

28 players teed off on a fine dry morning with a mainly overcast sky with teh occasional sun peeking through. The fairways were damp but most of the course was in good condition with very few if any balls plugging in the grass despite the amount of rain that course has endured in recent weeks.

15 October 2022 - Calderwood Valley - Individual Stableford - 7:00am

22 players teed off on a dry warm morning that had clear skies at 7am with a slight breeze. It got even warmer by 9am by which time our jumpers were well and truly off. It was a beautiful day for golf.

The greens were firm and in good condition.

The fairways and rough were well mowed and mostly dry underfoot. The course was in really good condition despite less than a dozen smallish spots that were still a bit soggy. There were no areas where water had pooled.

The dams were full and the creeks were running freely creating a background of pleasant sounds against which to play golf.

 Bunkers were GUR if they had water in them.
