It had been raining for most of the night before the game and there was no letup in sight when our first group teed off.

3 or 4 fair weather golfers withdrew when they awoke and saw that it was raining. However, 28 diehards weathered the horrid conditions and played through them. Umbrellas were up all the way around. Even fair-weather Rodney Dixon played through the wet conditions.

The greens and fairways were in good condition. The greens were thick and moist making them slower than normal for putting. The fairways were lush with good green grass cover. There were a few puddles of water in the low-lying areas on the fairways.
