Saturday 23 August 2014 – Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford – 6:19

27 players teed on a morning that threatened to rain and did after about 4 holes. Some players found the conditions unpleasant, especially where there was poling and flowing across greens making putting near impossible, and chose to walk off the course but the majority battled on. The Captain chose to play a Modified Stableford competition. Each hole was played as per the normal Stableford scoring method but –

Stableford Score = 4, Modified Stableford Score = 5

Stableford Score = 3, Modified Stableford Score = 3

Stableford Score = 2, Modified Stableford Score = 0

Stableford Score = 1, Modified Stableford Score = -1

Stableford Score = 0, Modified Stableford Score = -2

After much whinging and carry-on about how ‘I might as well go home as I haven’t got a chance of winning’, Ben Everson (+12) won the Guzzler’s Cup ahead of Grant Thompson (+10) and Ian Tillbrook (+8). The Pink Ball was awarded to Tim Tillbrook (-14). The winner of the member’s card draw, a bottle of wine, was Ben Everson. Those present congratulated Tim and Gai Pooley on becoming grandparents. Their daughter, Nicole, gave birth to a baby boy, Joshua. Mother, son and partner, Luke, are all doing well recovering for the happy event.
